My doctor moved me from one opioid to codeine and the first three weeks were rough in a way nobody prepared me for.

I am not worse, exactly. I am less able to pretend, which may be progress.

Cold and heat sensitivity turned out to be part of it and is barely mentioned anywhere.

Pharmacist, not doctor, is where the useful advice has come from every single time.

Tolerance at a stable dose is the usual explanation well before anything more interesting is.

Any suggestions welcome, especially the boring practical ones.

Half of what people describe as tolerance is a change in the underlying condition, and the two need different answers.

Is it normal to feel worse before better? Nobody told me that.
