I keep a symptom diary and it shows something interesting about nitrofurantoin that my appointments are too short to discuss.
My doctor wants to separate tolerance from a genuine change in the underlying problem, which sounds sensible until you try to describe the difference in a ten minute appointment.
The leaflet lists the sun sensitivity as common and then says nothing useful about how long it lasts.
What worked for you, and how long did it take before it worked?
You have two changes at once here. You cannot attribute anything until one of them moves. Not on nitrofurantoin but the pattern is familiar.
Ten percent cuts. Slower is faster. How long have you been on nitrofurantoin?
Ask for the longer appointment slot. Ten minutes is not enough for a complex history and pretending otherwise wastes both your time.
It gets smaller. Not easy, smaller. That distinction kept me going.
Sorry for the basic question, but how do you actually start one of these diaries?
Function over score.
Function over score.
Enteric coatings should not be crushed. The pellets are the delivery mechanism.
How do you tell the difference between the drug working and just a good week? Not on nitrofurantoin but the pattern is familiar.
Is it normal to feel worse before better? Nobody told me that. Two months in on nitrofurantoin and it lines up.
You have two changes at once here. You cannot attribute anything until one of them moves.
Ten percent cuts, of the current dose not the original. That is the arithmetic that keeps it survivable.
Same here.
Currently on nitrofurantoin myself.
Personal experience, labelled as such, is exactly right here. Nobody is prescribing.
