How long before you can reasonably say something is or is not doing anything?

Sorry for the basic question, but how do you actually start one of these diaries? Currently on a one-page summary myself.

Everyone here blames the drug. Half the time it is the appointment schedule, not the molecule.

Log dose, time and sleep. Ten seconds a day and it turns the anecdote into something you can look at.
