Got a letter from the customs office about a parcel from India. Reading it carefully before I do anything.
Filing the paperwork early is worth more than arguing later about whose fault it was.
Declarations that contradict the return address are the ones that get opened.
The reference number on the letter is the only way anyone will find the file again, so it goes in the subject line of everything.
The returns address and the contact address are often different and only one of them is a real building.
Wondering whether my expectations are simply out of date.
Split the order.
Same here.
Not on the Netherlands but the pattern is familiar.

What do you do about the fee? Do you just pay it?
Customs outcomes are not rulings. A parcel passing is not legal advice.
How do I find the national register if I do not read the language?
Check the register yourself rather than trusting the number printed on the site. Currently on the Netherlands myself.
The cheapest option costs more once you price in the failure rate. Same for me with the Netherlands, unfortunately.
File early.
Split orders. Two small parcels beat one large one for reasons that have nothing to do with price.
Same here.
Do you contact the customs office or the carrier first?
“Registered with” is doing an enormous amount of work in that sentence.
