Ordered from India for the first time and the credit card payment triggered every fraud check the bank has.

The credit card route gives you recourse and the transfer route gives you a lower price. Pick which you actually want.

Declarations that contradict the return address are the ones that get opened.

Happy to hear I am overthinking it.

Do you contact the customs office or the carrier first?

File early. The window is shorter than people think and it starts at the transaction.

Fees like that are charged by the carrier, not the state, which is why they are hard to contest.

How do I find the national register if I do not read the language? Not on Japan but the pattern is familiar.

The declaration contradicting the return address is what gets it opened.

“Dispatched” means the label was printed. That is the entire meaning of the word. Same for me with Japan, unfortunately.

Photograph everything before you open it. Ten seconds, settles most disputes.

Three month limits are cumulative across parcels in more places than people realise. Not on Japan but the pattern is familiar.
