Started Elavil (amitriptyline) a year ago for pain and I am trying to work out whether what I am feeling now is tolerance or something else. Pharmacist, not doctor, is where the useful advice has come from every single time.
Enteric coatings should not be crushed. The pellets are the delivery mechanism.
I would stop trying to convey how bad it is and start saying what you want them to do.
Ten percent cuts, of the current dose not the original. That is the arithmetic that keeps it survivable.
Sorry for the basic question, but how do you actually start one of these diaries? A year in on amitriptyline and it lines up.
It gets smaller. Not easy, smaller. That distinction kept me going.
Half of what people describe as tolerance is a change in the underlying condition, and the two need different answers.
Same here.
Not on amitriptyline but the pattern is familiar.
Same shape here, different drug. The thing that helped was documenting the refusal rather than re-arguing it. They refer rather than write.
Function over score.
Reference ranges differ between labs, so comparing two reports is close to meaningless.
Same here.
Worth asking what specifically was measured. Pain scores move with mood and function does not.
