Got a letter from the customs office about a parcel from Canada. Reading it carefully before I do anything.

The bank blocking a payment is a completely different problem from the shop blocking it, and the fix is different.

What changed my experience was splitting orders rather than ordering larger and less often.

Customs handling fees are charged by the carrier, not the state, which is why they are so hard to contest.

Happy to hear I am overthinking it.

Photograph everything before you open it. Ten seconds, settles most disputes. Same for me with An Post, unfortunately.
