I keep a symptom diary and it shows something interesting about nitrofurantoin that my appointments are too short to discuss.
Some days are fine and some are not and there is no pattern I can find, which makes it hard to plan anything.
The generic switch was the only change and it was noticeable for about three weeks.
Finish the course and do not share the leftovers around, and the resistance argument is not theoretical.
What would you ask the prescriber if you had fifteen minutes?
How do you tell the difference between the drug working and just a good week?
Is it normal to feel worse before better? Nobody told me that.
Following this because I am in the same place and have no idea what to ask at the appointment. Six weeks in on nitrofurantoin and it lines up.
You are not imagining it and you are not being difficult. Document it and take the document in.
Same here.
Half of what people describe as tolerance is a change in the underlying condition, and the two need different answers. How long have you been on nitrofurantoin?
You have two changes at once here. You cannot attribute anything until one of them moves. Six weeks in on nitrofurantoin and it lines up.
The last ten percent of a taper takes as long as the first ninety. Nobody says so until you are in it. Stomach upset was my main issue with nitrofurantoin too.
Bring a list. Embarrassment makes everyone forget things, including you.
Reference ranges differ between labs, so comparing two reports is close to meaningless.
Sleep first. Bad night, bad day, more symptoms. Fix that before changing anything else.
Same here.
You are not imagining it and you are not being difficult. Document it and take the document in.
Function over score. Currently on nitrofurantoin myself.
