I have been on hydroxyzine for five years and the thing nobody warned me about is the tolerance.
My doctor wants to separate tolerance from a genuine change in the underlying problem, which sounds sensible until you try to describe the difference in a ten minute appointment.
The leaflet lists the tolerance as common and then says nothing useful about how long it lasts.
Mostly wanting to compare notes rather than be told what to do.
Following this because I am in the same place and have no idea what to ask at the appointment.
Sleep first. Bad night, bad day, more symptoms. Fix that before changing anything else.
Same shape here, different drug. The thing that helped was documenting the refusal rather than re-arguing it. They refer rather than write.
Changing prescriber does not reset anything, and people discover that the hard way.
Following this because I am in the same place and have no idea what to ask at the appointment.
How do you tell the difference between the drug working and just a good week?
Same here.
Worth repeating that this is not medical advice and the answer often depends on who you are. How long have you been on hydroxyzine?
Careful with attribution. You changed the timing, the dose and the season. That is three variables.
You are not imagining it and you are not being difficult. Document it and take the document in.
Sleep first. Bad night, bad day, more symptoms. Fix that before changing anything else. Tolerance was my main issue with hydroxyzine too.
I would stop trying to convey how bad it is and start saying what you want them to do.
Ten percent cuts, of the current dose not the original. That is the arithmetic that keeps it survivable.
Enteric coatings should not be crushed. The pellets are the delivery mechanism. Five years in on hydroxyzine and it lines up.
